All Checked Out / by Seyi Adejori

Hello fabulous people!

Plaid, tartan or check whatever you may call it, has been a staple pattern in fashion. It's one of those patterns that goes in and out of style frequently, so do not throw that pair of tartan trousers out! you never know when you might need it. Luckily tartan is currently all the rage, it has been sported by Off White, Tibi and Burberry. It is a pattern that I have embraced for years and love finding different ways to style and wear. In this post, I will show how I wear tartan and also how much I love the blazers!

Everyday oversize! Majority of my wardrobe consists of oversized items, I love how oversized items look and feel, they come with a sense of comfort and everyone knows it looks very cool. This blazer was purchased around ten years ago so it comes with a vintage vibe. The padded shoulders remind me of the 80s and power dressing. Power dressing is oh so real! try wearing a suit and see if you feel more powerful or different. Wearing trousers suits and blazers instantly make you look slightly powerful, polished and adds structure to an outfit.

As much as I love structure I also love to add the sporty pieces to my look. Blazers, trouser suits and tailored pieces add a clean cut look to an outfit but contrasting this also shows how well these pieces can be matched with that unpredictable item. So out came my classic black Adidas trousers and Nike Air Force 1's. Playing with trends and items that don't necessarily go together is fun and is something I strongly advocate.

Wearing flared trousers with chunky shoes is something that goes so well, I never knew how much I was into this look until I tried it. I take inspiration from the 70s, flared trousers and chunky heels that made any women and man look instantly groovy, but modernised it with Adidas track pants and chunky dad trainers. Cropped flares is another way of wearing flares that goes equally as well, so try and pair your flares with a chucky boot or chunky trainers, ASOS has a great selection of flares to choose from.

How do you style your tartan outfits, let me know in the comments below.

Stay smiling, Seyi x
